How Internet Operate ? [P1]

What is Internet

Internet is a global wide area network that connects computer systems across the world that use internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link devices worldwide. The internet also carries a vast range of information resource and services, such as interlinked hypertext documents and application of the World Wide Web (WWW), electronic mail telephony, and file sharing.

Internet also providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols.

What is World Wide Web (WWW) ?

World Wide Web(WWW) is an information space where documents and other web resource are identified by Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) interlinked by hypertext links, and accessible via internet.

The inventor of the Web has developed hypertext, the method of instant cross-referencing that supports communications on the Web, making it easy to link content on one web page to content located somewhere.

How do the Internet operate?

The internet's growth has become explosive and it seems impossible to escape the bombardment of www.com's seen constantly on television, heard on radio, and seen in magazines. Because the internet has become such large part of our lives, a good understanding is needed to use this new tool most effectively.

Internet is a global network of computers each computer connected to the internet must have a unique address Internet addresses are in the form nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn where non must be a number from 0-255. This address a known a IP address.

If you cannect to the internet through a Internet Services Provider (ISP), you are usually assigned a temporary IP address for duration of your dial-in session. If you connect to the internet from local area network (LAN) your computer might have a permanent IP address or it might obtain a temporary one from a DHCP ( Dynamic Host Protocol) server.

There are many more ways that internet can operates. Example by using IPS, Domian names and Address Resolution, w3c, ISOC and others.

Type of Connection

WIFI-

Wifi is an always on connection and can be access from anywhere. Wifi networks are growing in coverage areas by the minute so when i mean access from just about anywhere. It also has a speed connection and rage is between 5 Mbps to 20 Mbps.

DSL-

A high speed Internet service for homes and businesses that competes with cable and other forms of broadband Internet. DSL provide high-speed networking over ordinary phone lines using broadband modem technology.

Satellite-

Satellite accesses the internet via a satellite Earth's orbit. The enormous distance that a signal travels from earth to satellite and back again, provides a delayed connection compared to cable and DSL. Satellite connection speed are around 512K to 2.0 Mbps.

Cellular-

Cellular technology provides wireless Internet access through cell phones. The speeds vary depending on the provider, but most common are 3G and 4G speeds. A 3G is a term that describes a3rd generation cellular network obtaining mobile speeds of around 2.0 Mbps. 4G is the fourth generation of cellular wireless standards. The goal of 4G is to achive peak mobile speeds of 100 Mbps but the reality is about 21 Mbps currently.

Dial-Up (Analog 56k)-

Dial-up access is cheap but slow. A modem (internal or external) connects to the internet after the computer dials a phone number. This analog signal is converted to digital via modem and sent over a land-line serviced by a public telephone network. Telephone lines are variable in quality and the connection can be poor at times. The lines regularly experience interfrence and this affects the speed, anywhere from 28K to 56K. Since a computer or other device shares the same line as the telephone, they can't be active at the same time.
