Promotion is also known as search engine promotion, website marketing or website promotion, Internet promotion refers to all methods employed by company or individual to promote a website and increase its Position and page rank.

For example,
- Viral strategies
An important process is to design a strategy that encourage others to carry marketing message via e-mail, using their own network or relationships and preferably their own resource. This is called Viral Marketing after the way viruses multiply rapidly in a cell, commandeering the cell'"s resource to do the virus's bidding.

Communication

 Communication is one of the primary uses of the internet in business. Email allows workers to communicate quickly with one another, business partners and clients. Email can contain hundreds of pages of documents and figures relevant to business communication. Using email to communicate data can save on the costs of printing and sending physical papers. Business also can conduct meeting using video  conferencing software, which can potentially save on the cost of business travel.


Procurement


Procurement involves the process of selecting vendors, establishing payment terms, strategic vetting,selection, the negotiation of contracts and actual purchasing of goods. Procurement is concerned with acquiring (procuring) all of the goods, services and work that vital to an organization.

This is classified in manufacturing system as ''just in time'', which minimized inventory holding costs and ensures the smooth delivery of supplies needed in manufacturing process.

Some businesses use the internet to research competitors. For instance, Hoovers.com allows search for detailed information on businesses across the country. Amazon has separate retail websites for every country in the world. In 2015, Amazon surpassed Walmart as the most valuble retailer in the United States by market capitalization and Amazon is the third most valuable public company in the world(behind Apple and Alphabet).

How the companies use the internet ?

Amazon-

Sales/Online Shopping- 
Amazon is a companies that use the Internet to generate sales. Amazon have online sales systems that customers can use to browse products and place orders by entering credit card information. Online shopping is convenient for customers, since they can shop at any time from anywhere, without having to visit a specific retail location. Online shopping also allows customers to compare prices between different vendors quickly and easily.

Social Media/Public Relation-  Almost every companies has use the Internet to interact with customers. Amazon have social media pages on sites like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, where they can post news and information to keep loyal customers informed about the company's activities. The Internet also allows companies to get feedback from customers via email submissions or web-based surveys. 

Information-
The internet has simplified the way in which businesses collects and records information. They are able to conduct effective research by searching on the web or by using online databases. An electronic record can then made of the information gathered. Important information such as the state of the stock exchange can also be obtained.

McDonald's is the world's largest restaurant chain by revenue, serving over 69 million customers daily in over 100 countries across approximately 36,900 outlets as of 2016.[9] Although McDonald's is known for its hamburgers, they also sell cheeseburger, chicken products, french fries, breakfast items, soft drinks, milkshakes, wraps, and desserts.
